Nineteenth-ranked Dutch QSTA Utd. (3-25) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Belgian Belfius Mons-Hainaut (17-13) in Jemappes on Saturday. Belfius Mons-Hainaut managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Union Mons made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Icelandic swingman Styrmir Thrastarson (200-2001, college: Davidson, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 assists. Zaccharie Mortant (192-1998) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side American forward Ben Carlson (206, college: Utah) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Evan Taylor (198, college: Vanderbilt) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Union Mons maintains eighth place with 17-13 record, which they share with Charleroi. QSTA Utd. lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Union Mons will meet at home ZZ Leiden (#11) in the next round. QSTA Utd. will have a break next round.
